Revenant Guide: Abilities, Tips & Lore - Apex Legends Wiki
Table of contents
Revenant—the Synthetic Nightmare—arrived to the Apex Games in Season 4 and later received a full rework in Season 18, shifting his kit toward relentless aggression and high-mobility engagements. Known for brutal efficiency, he excels at closing gaps, hunting weakened targets, and outmaneuvering squads with vertical play.

Abilities
Shadow Pounce (Tactical)
Unleash a chargeable lunge that propels Revenant forward. Tap for a quick leap; hold to charge up to several seconds for far greater distance. Cooldown: ~20s.
- Minimum pounce range is roughly 20m; charged leaps can cover dramatically more ground.
- Can immediately transition into wall climbing after landing against a surface.
- Movement and crouch are available during the leap; other actions are restricted until landing.
Tip: Aim slightly downward for a faster, flatter trajectory and extra horizontal distance. Pair a charged pounce into a wall climb to surprise opponents on high ground.
Assassin’s Instinct (Passive)
Highlights nearby visible enemies who are critically low on health. Revenant also crouch-walks at running speed and climbs significantly higher and more fluidly than other Legends.
- Enhanced wall-climb allows lateral adjustments and cornering on vertical surfaces.
- Low-health marks appear when enemies drop to a small health threshold within short range.
- Crouch-ADS strafing is fast and reduces profile for tighter gunfights.
Tip: Use silent, fast crouch movement to flank. Climb around edges to maintain pressure without exposing your full body.
Forged Shadows (Ultimate)
Encase yourself in a regenerating Shadow Shroud that absorbs incoming damage before it reaches your shields or health. Scoring a knock refreshes the shroud and extends its duration. Charge time: ~3 minutes.
- Absorbs direct damage (bullets, melee, explosives) until depleted; AoE effects still threaten Revenant.
- Temporarily increases the upper-body silhouette while active; returns to normal when the shroud breaks.
- On knock or assist, the shroud replenishes and gains a short duration extension; tactical is also refreshed.
Tip: Pop the ultimate before a push to create a buffer of extra HP, then chain refreshes by securing knocks while staying on the offensive.
Legend Upgrades (BR, Season 20+)
- Level 2 choices: Reduced Forged Shadows cooldown, or increased duration of low-health markings from Assassin’s Instinct.
- Level 3 choices: Reduced Shadow Pounce cooldown, or faster Shadow Pounce charge and attack execution.
Lore
Once the Mercenary Syndicate’s most feared hitman, Kaleb Cross was transformed into a simulacrum when death finally came for his human body. His programming forced him to forget, but when it failed, he saw the truth: Hammond and the Syndicate had turned him into an immortal weapon. He hunted those responsible, but the one thing he craved—an end—remained out of reach.
Years later, after a collision of revenge with Loba kept him alive to suffer longer, Revenant’s world shifted again: his old toolkit was ripped away and replaced with new abilities that made him even more predatory. Now, someone else is pulling strings—and until he finds who, the nightmare keeps working.
