Overview
Wattson, the Static Defender, is a Controller Legend introduced in Season 2. Meticulous and methodical, she locks down territory with electric fences and a powerful pylon that neutralizes incoming ordnance while restoring shields. Unlockable with in-game currency or through special editions, Wattson rewards smart positioning, spacing, and team coordination.

Abilities
Tactical: Perimeter Security
Create electrified fences by placing and linking nodes. Enemies who pass through take damage and are slowed, while your squad can slip through with a brief disengage of the beams.
- Holds up to 4 charges; one charge replenishes every 15 seconds.
- Up to 12 nodes can be active; placing a new one at the cap removes the oldest.
- Nodes link within roughly 20 meters and can connect to two neighbors.
- Fence hits deal damage over time while in contact and apply a slow for about 3 seconds.
- Doors that intersect fences will shatter; fences won’t link through solid terrain.
Passive: Spark of Genius
Wattson slowly regenerates her shields over time after avoiding damage, and she’s exceptionally efficient with Ultimate Accelerants.
- Passive shield regen begins a few seconds after avoiding damage.
- Carrying efficiency: stores up to 2 Ultimate Accelerants per backpack slot.
- Using an Accelerant fully recharges the ultimate.
Ultimate: Interception Pylon
Deploy a pylon that zaps incoming grenades and missiles within its radius and repairs nearby shields from a shared shield pool.
- Max one pylon at a time; deploying a new one removes the old.
- Neutral effect: can also recharge enemy shields if they step into the radius.
- Intercepts incoming ordnance before impact when within line of sight.
- Nearby Wattson gains faster tactical recharge while the pylon is active.
Legend Upgrades
In Battle Royale modes with Legend Upgrades, Wattson can enhance her area control as her Evo Armor levels up. Typical choices include faster ally revives with health regeneration and upgrades that boost pylon durability, shield capacity, or spawn Arc Stars on interceptions.
Lore
Natalie “Wattson” Paquette grew up around the Apex Games as the daughter of the arena’s chief electrical engineer. She helped build the Modified Containment Ring and, after her father’s death, found family among the Legends who invited her to fight. Order and electricity ground her—she channels both to defend friends, silence chaos, and outthink anyone who underestimates her.
Cosmetic Items
Wattson’s wardrobe ranges from elegant to whimsical, including event skins, recolors, and a fan-favorite Heirloom Set.
- Skins: A large collection across Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary tiers.
- Finishers: Signature executions that fit her playful yet precise style.
- Heirloom Set: Energy Reader melee, “Handled With Care” pose, and a unique intro quip.
- Banners, Emotes, Holosprays, Music Pack: Multiple options to personalize your banner and dropship arrival.

Voice lines
Wattson’s voice lines balance bright humor with nerdy confidence—often with electrifying puns. They add personality to recoveries, revives, and big ring plays.
History
- Perimeter Security: Improved placement, higher damage on contact, longer slow, and faster recharge over time in various updates.
- Interception Pylon: Reworked to one persistent pylon with a shield pool and more reliable ordnance interception.
- Quality-of-life: Better placement above eye level where valid, hitbox adjustments, and visual fixes for certain skins.
Teasers
Wattson appeared in early promotional material ahead of her official debut, hinting at a defense-focused Legend who would reshape late-game strategy.
Trivia
- One of a few Legends with a unique revive animation—she uses her kit like a defibrillator.
- Early concepts included a cybernetic arm; the final canon design features both arms, though some non-canon skins revisit the idea.
- She and Wraith share the same listed height, making them among the shortest Legends.
