Revenant: Vengeance from Beyond the Grave
Revenant
Revenant is an Assault-class Legend introduced in Season 4 and fully reworked in Season 18. A ruthless simulacrum assassin, he excels at sudden engagements, flanking, and sustained pressure through mobility and temporary shielding.
Abilities
Shadow Pounce (Tactical)
Description: Unleash a powerful forward leap. Hold to charge for extra distance.
Cooldown: 20 seconds
- Tap to leap roughly 20 meters; fully charged leaps can exceed 50 meters in ideal conditions.
- Seamlessly transitions into a wall climb when connecting with a surface mid-air.
- Only movement and crouching are available while pouncing.
- Momentum is reduced if used while trapped by restricting abilities.
Assassin’s Instinct (Passive)
Description: Highlights nearby, in-view enemies that are low on health. Crouch-walking is faster and wall climbing is greatly improved.
- Crouch-walk speed matches standard walk speed and produces no footstep audio.
- Climb up to ~26.5 meters (around eight stories), with improved horizontal control and the ability to round corners.
- Low-health enemies (at or below 40 HP within ~30 meters) can be highlighted; marks can propagate to teammates if Revenant caused the damage.
Forged Shadows (Ultimate)
Description: Surround yourself in a regenerating, hardened shadow shroud that blocks direct damage. Knockdowns refresh its health and extend its duration.
Charge time: 3 minutes
- Creates a 75 HP shadow shroud lasting up to 25 seconds; direct hits deplete the shroud before damaging shields/health.
- Area effects (e.g., ring, lingering flames, some electrified fields) may bypass or still damage Revenant.
- Removes hit-slow from certain explosives and can destroy certain traps on contact.
- Regeneration pauses when taking direct damage and typically resumes after the shroud fully breaks.
- Knockdowns refresh the shroud to full, extend duration by 5 seconds (up to the cap), and recharge the tactical.
Legend Upgrades (Battle Royale)
Starting in Season 20, leveling your EVO Armor unlocks upgrade choices that enhance Revenant’s kit. Pick one per level for up to two total.
Level 2 Upgrades
- Ultimate Cooldown: Forged Shadows cooldown reduced by 30 seconds.
- Try To Hide: Doubles the mark duration on low-health enemies.
Level 3 Upgrades
- Tactical Cooldown: Shadow Pounce cooldown reduced by 5 seconds.
- Agile Assassin: Shadow Pounce charge and attack animations reduced by roughly 50%.
Lore
Revenant was once Kaleb Cross, the Syndicate’s most feared hitman. After his death, Hammond Robotics resurrected him as a simulacrum, repeatedly wiping his memory so he’d continue killing without question. When his programming finally failed, Revenant saw the monster he’d become. He hunted those responsible and learned his preserved human head keeps him trapped in this unending existence. After a run-in with Loba—whose parents he killed—he was denied the release he craved and forced to live with his sins. Later, he awoke to altered abilities and a corrupted self, raising new questions: who’s still pulling the strings, and why? He won’t stop until he knows.

Voice Lines
Revenant’s voice lines reflect his contempt for “skinsuits,” sardonic humor, and unrelenting focus on the hunt. He often taunts enemies at low health and mocks hope in the face of death.

Teasers
Original
- Teased throughout Season 3, first voiced as the Shadowfall announcer.
- A faux reveal of another Legend culminated in Revenant assassinating the would‑be newcomer, cementing his debut with a shock twist.
- Subsequent lore drops and break‑in reports built his myth as Hammond’s nightmare.
Reborn
- Before Season 18, in-match glitches and headaches hinted at corruption in Revenant’s systems.
- The Kill Code event revealed bunker-side story beats and culminated in the “Resurrection” launch trailer confirming his rework.
- Season 18 gameplay showed the new kit focused on mobility and sustained engagements.
Datamined and Leaked Data
- Early designs explored a “synthetic shinobi” concept with experimental abilities like tracking marks, poisons, and wallrunning. Some concepts later inspired other Legends.
- During rework development, multiple prototypes were tested before consolidating into the final Shadow Pounce/Assassin’s Instinct/Forged Shadows kit.
Trivia
- Revenant’s select animations are uniquely varied, including a special sequence tied to certain skins.
- He once carried “Low Profile” due to early hitbox plans; it was later removed after hitbox revisions.
- Several animations reference popular media and hand-sign rituals, underlining his “summoned nightmare” motif.
